ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Engineering Manager you’ll lead the Platform infrastructure team which is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our cloud-based ecosystem. Our ideal candidate has managed technical products or large-scale platforms, has great attention to detail, concisely communicates complex concepts, and is excited about building the platform that powers all of Sennder’s engineering department.
Platform infrastructure engineering is responsible for enabling engineering productivity and provides the product development teams with capabilities and solutions to be highly efficient in building, deploying and running solutions reliably at scale.
This team is building products that provide the tooling and capabilities to enhance the productivity of our engineers by removing their need to be concerned about infrastructure, deployments, observability, CI/CD and more.
 
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL…
  • Build and grow the platform team composed of software engineers and site reliability engineers to build products that enable the other product teams
  • Be the primary point of contact and leader of complex platform projects from discovery and planning to development and implementation
  • Work closely with Engineering Leadership to ensure actionable and valuable work is defined for the team
  • Coordinate project efforts, lead cross-functional team communication and moderate meetings and rituals with the team
  • Identify opportunities to lift key metrics; lowering cloud costs, improving on resilience and security at large
  • Drive the delivery of enablers and capabilities for the engineering teams, including planning and execution
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of software services (you build it, you run it), including team ownership of monitoring and incident management of production issues
  • Apply viable solutions, find the right tradeoffs and seek to reduce complexity to help teams deliver solutions that meet the business needs
  • Drive hiring for the team and engineering at large, develop the engineering talent into new roles, solidify the feedback culture within the team, manage performance of team members and ensure we retain top engineering talent
  • Keep engineering quality high and continuously identify and resolve technical debt, quality issues and gaps in engineering practices
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices that are the right fit for a platform team and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices
  • Create a healthy culture of collaboration and inclusion, lead by example in line with the company values
  • Focus on applying best-in-class industry practices to continue to raise the bar on providing developer delight and speed of delivery for the teams
 
PREFERABLY YOU HAVE…
  • Confirmed engineering leadership experience to provide mentorship, guidance, and motivation for the team and turning it into a successful execution
  • Significant and proven experience in executing different cloud architecture patterns like microservices, event-driven systems, micro frontends, etc.
  • Experienced with modern infrastructure automation frameworks (like terraform), orchestration, containerization, serverless and security best practices
  • A bias towards action, with the ability to make the tradeoffs between delivering outcomes  and making things perfect
  • Adept at developing in one or more common programming languages such as Python, JavaScript
  • A strong interest in the actual customer and business problems to solve
  • Being a good listener, but also argue for the cause when needed
  • Highly self-driven, professional personality with an aspiration to excel in the role
  • Capable of taking a birds-eye view of things to get the big picture while getting into details when needed, but understanding when it is appropriate to do so
  • A desire to build a diverse team that wins together and prioritizes success
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to deal with change
  • Fluency in English
