Senior Tax Manager - US

Given our increased presence in the US, we are looking for a person who can help us navigate the US tax landscape. You will have full responsibility for US tax and work closely with the US CFO based in NYC and our accounting team based in Columbus, Ohio. You will be a part of and work closely with the global tax team based in Stockholm.

You will join an extremely fast-paced company with a strong ambition to be a first mover, not only commercially but also in terms of how we work with taxes.  You will be the only tax person on the ground in the US, thus it is important that you have a broad knowledge of US tax and are used to taking ownership even when things are moving in Mach 2. You will also need to be very proactive and able to manage several high-stakes matters at the same time.

What you'll do:

  • Drive the development and implementation to enforce all tax control processes, policies and priorities for the US 
  • Secure the day-to-day tax risk management in the US
  • Develop and implement strategic alternatives in the US and on a global level
  • Drive consolidation, analysis and the provision of tax information in internal and external reports
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting of tax expense and payments for the US
  • Liasing with the central tax team on strategic tax matters relevant for the Klarna Group
  • Assist on M&A related projects and internal reorganizations

What we are looking for:

  • 5-7 year experience from working at Big 4 or similar, preferably specializing in financial institutions
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written on all organizational levels, on matters that may be complex and sensitive
  • Proven knowledge of federal taxation,  tax accounting (including provisioning) and tax compliance
  • General knowledge of state and local tax as well as international taxation
  • Experience from project management and from working in an international environment
  • Proven practice of strategy development and implementation
  • Solid system knowledge (e.g. SAP and Thomson Reuter Products) and data analytics understanding
  • Superior ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment  
  • Resourceful and enjoy working in a complex and dynamic environment  
  • Team player with high integrity and excellent collaboration skills
  • Economics or Law Degree
