Senior Software Engineer Robotics / SLAM (F/M/D)

About us

INNOVATION HAPPENS HERE

It is sometimes hectic, very exciting, and always fun! Every day, you will find yourself facing different challenges, learning new things, working on cutting-edge technology, and building cool, high tech products.
Are you excited to build things that matter within an organization that’s pushing the boundaries of 3D mapping and computer vision? We have some of the world's leading experts in computer vision, image processing, and 3D mapping, and we work side by side with academia to advance these fields. Join the team that’s making it all happen.
At the end of the day, you’ll have a great sense of accomplishment, having contributed to building something completely innovative at the frontier of today's technology.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Take the chance to build & influence the performance of our high tech products instead of “only” running analyses or of doing “plain” software development
  • Use top notch IT equipment, including Bose headphones
  • Work closely with passionate, international & highly talented colleagues in a casual environment with flexible working hours
  • Find us in the heart of Munich, close to Stiglmaierplatz with great cafes, shops and subway around
  • Join your NavVis colleagues and continuously grow your biz/tech skills with courses from our internal “NavVis University” which brings you topics from expert internal & external trainers
  • Strong teams are built on strong bonds. Join us for bi-monthly BrownBag lunches, regular team-building activities, self-organized employee activities (sky is the limit on these!) and annual team off-sites
  • Take care of your well-being at work and enjoy our fully stocked kitchen with an original Italian coffee machine & all kinds of cereals and fruits

Imagine being a part of the Mapping & Perception team, where you collaborate with experienced engineers to improve our software and components that power our mobile mapping systems.
We have a career development path for engineers who are passionate about learning and developing their skills in software engineering with languages like C++ and Python, developing scalable cloud solutions running on AWS, or implementing cutting-edge technology in robotics and computer vision.

People that are a part of this team have transformed our spatial technology by developing cutting-edge solutions to create realistic 3D representations of our environment, such as floor plans, point clouds, and panoramic images. Our passion for our technology paired with our international and family-like environment drive our fundamental mission - to bridge the gap between the physical and digital world.

Are you ready to join our team, tackle exciting challenges, and bring our software to the next level?

You will work on:

  • Development of SLAM algorithms at the core of our mapping devices
  • Systematic evaluation of accuracy, robustness and the performance of algorithms and sensors
  • The processing pipeline from raw sensor data to the generation of point clouds and maps
  • Continuous improvement of automated tests and automated delivery of software

You have:

  • A Master's degree or PhD in computer science or a similar field, ideally with a specialization in robotics and / or Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)
  • A solid foundation in mathematical concepts of geometry and optimization
  • Several years of hands-on experience with professional software development (ideally using modern C++ or Python)
  • The drive to stay up-to-date on latest advances in robotics, SLAM and software development
  • A preference for systematic data-driven experimentation and technology development

You are:

  • Creative thinker and a strong problem solver
  • A great communicator and team player
  • Structured and self-managed in your way of working
  • Fluent in English

We will be thrilled if you have:

  • Experience with visual SLAM or Lidar-based SLAM
  • Experience with Linux, ROS and the Point Cloud Library (PCL)
  • Experience with the hardware of sensors like laser scanners, IMUs and cameras
