Objective of the Role
ResearchGate is already an incredibly complex product, and this role will build the touchpoints that educate scientists about and connect them with deeper value in the product. Especially as we build revenue streams with a product-led go to market approach, product marketing will be a critical competency in our success. 

ResearchGate is more and more in the center spotlight in science, and this role will help create the campaigns and touchpoints to ensure that the product communicates our mission and vision to researchers and the rest of the scientific ecosystem. We’ve done a great deal to move science forward, and there’s never been a better time to give a bigger and more visible voice to our product – that’s the opportunity in this job.
The Product Marketing Manager will work closely with the product teams, building new revenue streams, reporting directly to the Director of Product Management. In the day-to-day, the Product Marketing Manager will contribute work on high leverage areas of the product along with other key roles in an empowered team (product, engineering, UX, analytics, user research), for the delivery of existing or new products, but also in the shaping of new products themselves through competitor and market analyses. They’ll have support from the communications team especially in creating content.
This person will be the first Product Marketing Manager at RG and as the role and company expands there will be opportunities to grow and develop the product marketing function.

Deliverables of the role include:

  • A holistic product marketing strategy for ResearchGate’s most important new revenue stream, including responsibility for pricing and packaging
  • Collaboration with product, design, and analytics to create key touchpoints within the product and at all steps of the funnel
  • Setting the vision for the product marketing function across the entire product
  • Representing the product marketing function in the leadership teams
  • Work with the Director of Product Management to lead internal product marketing
  • Relevant competitor and market analyses
  • Consultation of stakeholders of user-facing components for optimal messaging and brand alignment (e.g. support templates, in-product copy)

Ideally, the candidate has experience with marketing for professional online networks or with products for scientists and researchers.
