Senior Financial Accountant

The Senior Financial Accountant will contribute to the book close and reporting processes within Financial Reporting, building out a strong interface to the teams consuming financial reporting data especially group tax and investor relations. As a key contributor to the team’s areas of impact will be contributing and improving our book close process by reducing the time needed to prepare financials, reports and tax declarations.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a key contributor to our Financial Reporting and Accounting Principles team 
  • Contribute to the preparation of the consolidated annual  financial statements according to IFRS
  • Prepare and analyze the consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as well as the annual reports
  • Develop, implement and maintain our global chart of accounts 
  • Drive the further development of internal and external reporting, the accounting of complex issues and the technical and procedural implementation of new accounting standards in our accounting system
  • Contact for the domestic and foreign group companies in all questions of accounting as well as for the auditors
  • Build out the interface to our internal stakeholders such as Investor Relations, FP&A and Group Tax 
  • Be a business partner towards the operational teams by advising on accounting implications to inform strategic decision making 
  • Take responsibility for projects in the financial sector

What you need to be successful:

  • A university degree with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Audit or comparable majors
  • 3-4 years of work experience in Finance in an international environment or in a Big 4 Audit firm
  • Profound knowledge in IFRS as well as German GAAP
  • Preferable knowledge in taxation
  • Interest in and understanding for general ledger and sub ledger systems
  • First touch points with substantiation of financial statement line items
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and experience in using structured approaches to problem solving with tight deadlines.
  • “Can-do” and “Hands-on” mentality and a focus on achieving goals
  • Experience in project management and willingness to deliver in agile ways of working
  • Ability to comprehend and narrate financial records for external stakeholders
  • Flexible and able to work with changing priorities
  • Experience of working with and managing external stakeholders such as auditors
  • Fluent English and good German skills
