Senior BCM Associate

In this role, you will:

Policy management and governance

  • Define the scope of BCM
  • Define roles and responsibilities within a three Lines of Defense (LoD) framework, and support its implementation through consulting, especially to the 1st LoD
  • Design, implement, and maintain BCM governance by setting up steering committee agendas, creating Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and writing management reports
  • Adapt BCM to reflect regulatory requirements

 

Embedding BCM

  • Raise awareness of BCM throughout the company
  • Identify key 1st LoD roles 
  • Provide training to employees at all levels and with different BCM roles
  • Maintain BCM’s portion of the third party risk assessment process to ensure service levels of outsourced providers services align with recovery time objective (RTO) requirements

 

Analysis

  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Risk Impact Analysis to determine processes, protective measures, recovery requirements, and identify risks
  • Partner with the IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) function to align with IT regarding technology backup and recovery requirements from the BIAs

 

Planning

  • Assist the 1st LoD to design and evaluate recovery strategies based on output from BIAs
  • Enable for the 1st LoD the BCM planning process that documents recovery strategies, identify key assets and resources, and outline actions to be taken to recover business processes

 

Testing

  • Design, develop, and coordinate the testing and exercising program for business continuity plans and outsourced service providers
  • Liaise with ITSCM and IT to coordinate systems tests

 

Emergency management

  • Implement and maintain the emergency response framework
  • Facilitate training and exercises of the emergency and crisis units
  • Participate in the response to emergency and crisis events

 

What you need to be successful:

 

Background

  • Degree in business administration, finance, risk management, information systems management, or related field 
  • At least 5 to 10 years of experience in business continuity, risk management, or related fields within regulated financial institutions
  • Very knowledgeable and experienced working with global standards (e.g., ISO 22301) and current trends regarding business continuity 
  • Good knowledge of banking business processes, operational functions, and regulations
  • Good understanding of the technology landscape, third party management, and information security
  • Business continuity certifications (e.g., CBCP, MBCI) are considered a plus

 

Skills

  • Effective communication and presentation skills towards all levels of seniority (internal and external) and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders to ensure appropriate levels of business continuity are implemented, the priorities of BCM are recognized, and those priorities are acted upon
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and with a high level of personal integrity
  • Excellent command of German and English languages
