Lead Fullstack Engineer

sennder is a European digital freight forwarder looking for a Lead Fullstack Engineer to join our Carrier & Driver Team. The role is based out of the Berlin office and will report directly to our Engineering Director. Do you want to help us shape the future of the logistics industry?

Your business unit, Carriers and Drivers, provides tools and websites for our supply side of the business where carriers can register, login and manage their daily business including fleet management, transport management, finding loads, bidding on loads, managing transports and getting paid. We support our drivers with a mobile app for iOS and Android in order to guide them on the road and enable them to upload required documents in no time.

As a Lead Fullstack Engineer for the business unit Carriers & Drivers you’ll be one of the key contributors to the architecture of our new services and product landscape. You will collaborate with the lead architect as well as peers from other business units and ensure a high level of technical excellence in your domain. Furthermore you will support the feature development  teams of Carriers and Drivers by providing components, libraries, APIs and solutions for new challenges as well as directly, if they need support reaching their sprint commitments.

In this role you will:

  • Drive end to end software design and development across the tech organisation when needed. 
  • Set the technology vision and architectural direction for the team(s) and execute against that vision and agreed-on target state.
  • Be a guiding force, ensuring we are adopting and using effectively state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Move the entire organization forward in a significant way with the work you do. Whether through processes you design, best practices you establish, code you write, learnings you share, organization changes you influence, or initiatives you lead.
  • Collaborate closely with our leadership in Tech, Product, Data and Business to improve our process, methodologies, communication flows, etc.
  • Be an ambassador for the sennder brand and partner with talent acquisition to help in hiring

 Preferably you are:

  • Years of professional hands-on experience as a senior, lead engineer, or architect in complex development projects - with a minimum experience of 10 years in software engineering
  • Experience with multiple frameworks and languages, essentially a polyglot. You can move comfortably from Python to Node.JS to JS and work across the entire backend / frontend stack and DevOps
  • Expertise in setting up distributed systems and moving a product from a monolith to services
  • Experience in defining and implementing technical roadmaps with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in observability, including logging / metrics / tracing / alerting
  • The ability to mentor other developers and host knowledge sharing sessions.
  • An agile mindset with the ability to advocate for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
