Your Role:

You will join the Indoor Farming Equipment Engineering team in the R&D Department in developing cutting edge Vertical Farming technologies - specifically around Fertigation and Irrigation of our crops. You will be working alongside Mechanical Engineers, Industrial Designers, Crop Scientists, Climate Engineers, Software developers, Project Managers and many others to bring amazing innovation to the company. Part of your role includes communicating with external partners and suppliers and developing the best solutions to meet our needs.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement irrigation / fertigation engineering solutions to achieve highly integrated and functional Indoor Farming systems;
  • Cooperate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high quality, cost effective technical solutions;
  • Take ownership over the water related projects to meet the company goals;
  • Use multi-variable optimization techniques to consider operational cost and capital  investment;
  • Support manufacturing department during the design, validation and launch of the project;
  • Initiate source analysis of test failures, field failures, or production issues, and anticipate with renewal solutions;
  • Own full product cycle, from initial concept through to successful product launch;

Our Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in Horticulture /  Greenhouse technology / Civil engineering/Agriculture or closely related fields;
  • Analytical and creative problem solving mindset, with strong drive to harmonize various systems into indoor irrigation solutions;.
  • Experience with automated material handling equipment and systems including robotics.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering design projects, including management of resources and time constraints;
  • General construction experience, including familiarity with water, electric and HVAC systems;
  • Ability to use business/technical software such as Microsoft Office;
  • Experience in functional design with a focus on assembly, maintenance and end user interaction.
  • Fluent in English and with effective communication skills; German is a pré.

Additional preferences: 

  • Experience with software including Solidworks Enterprise PDM, Confluence/Jira
  • Experience in Hydraulics/Fertigation/Greenhouse Irrigation/Agriculture/Civil Engineering/Plumbing/Fluid Dynamics/Fluid Mechanics ect.
  • Additional European Major language
  • Experience with automated material handling equipment and systems including robotics.
  • Experience with process design
  • Experience with CFD simulations
  • Experience with Food manufacturing and handling industry
  • Facility design and development
  • Capital project management skills
  • Design-in-Safety experience
