Friendsurance has with international acknowledgement pioneered and inspired global trends in Insurtech since 2010. With the new brand Friendsurance Business, we are pioneering another mission: the digitisation of insurance services for banks or insurance companies and their customers. Through partnerships with leading banks and insurance companies like Deutsche Bank and R+V, we make a smart home for insurance available directly in these partners digital solutions. Through our sophisticated, scalable and modular insurance platform we aim to make insurance more customer friendly.

We are looking for a Head of Data (m/f/d)

This is a full time position, working as part of a strong and growing Data Team on site in Berlin. Data is the true core of our insurance business model and thus one of the most significant factors for the future success of Friendsurance.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Define and implement our company-wide data strategy by defining solutions which fulfill our strategic and operational needs
  • Make Friendsurance an even more data-driven organization
  • Maintain and develop all data topics in the company including Data Analytics, Data Engineering and Data Science
  • Define and implement the processes around Data Governance and Data Quality
  • Understand key drivers of business performance and support important strategic projects for Product, Marketing, CRM and other departments from data and technology perspectives
  • Define and develop joint OKRs and help to successfully achieve them
  • Provide technical data solutions to further grow the business
  • Engage with leaders across the company to deliver outstanding products to satisfy the needs of our internal and external customers
  • Establish, improve and support agile processes
  • Build, lead, inspire and develop a growing Data Team in Friendsurance
  • Invest time in personal development of your team members and help them grow
  • You will be reporting directly to the CTO

 Your profile

  • 5+ years of experience in data leadership role (with team sizes of 5+ members)
  • 3+ years of hands-on implementation experience in the field of data engineering or data science, preferably having delivered data solutions end to end
  • Up to date knowledge about current Data, ML and Analytics tools and their applications
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on capabilities in creating products with a great user experience. You can define, develop and advocate a data product roadmap, have a progressive approach and the ability to introduce and inspire change
  • Deep understanding of the requirements of key data stakeholders and ability to translate it to an actionable plan for data scientists, data engineers or data analysts
  • Commitment to Data Engineering and Business Intelligence best practices
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to sense and develop new business opportunities
  • Track record of excellent communication, highly professional leadership skills in an international environment and high level of commitment
  • The ability to inform, convince and persuade a range of cross functional stakeholders, also on executive level, in both verbal and written form
  • Highly proficient with SQL, Python
  • Experience with AWS (Kinesis, Sagemaker and other) technologies, MSSQL (MS SQL DB, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) stack; and other data related tooling landscape (e.g. Databricks, Tableau, Snowplow, Segment, Looker and other) is a big plus
  • Experience in web and app tracking (e.g. Google Analytics, Matomo, Adjust) is a plus
  • Experience with Fintech or Insurtech is a big plus
  • Fluent in English, German is preferrable
