Global Head of Design Ops

Our global team of 70+ designers have deep expertise in User Experience Research, Product Design and Brand Design. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations. 

Most Brand or Product Designers and Researchers work in co-located cross-functional teams, across all our offices in Berlin, Warsaw, Cologne, Copenhagen, Sofia and São Paulo. They develop solutions for our core payments product including our bespoke hardware, as well as a suite of software tools that support merchants as they grow their business. We believe in quality, in making complex business tools simple, and in using data to anticipate merchants needs as their business grows. 

 

What you're going to do

  • As Global Head of Design Ops you will set the foundation for our design practice, the team architecture and clear roles to ensure the growth we are aiming at is sustainable and reveals the right skills at the rights spots.
  • You will establish design operations as a foundational practice for all teams, focusing on best practices for processes across brand and product teams. You will collaborate closely with the brand, product, research and tech leadership to shape lean processes, standards and tools that speed-up go-to-market and smoothen collaboration.
  • You will oversee the progress and status of cross-functional programmes that have multiple stakeholders and many moving parts; align between e2e interdependencies and feature intersections to enable teams to successfully achieve major milestones and targeted Go-Live dates.
  • You will strategically drive the design mission & vision setting and quarterly OKR development and ensure teams are meeting business outcomes. Therefore you establish & facilitate communication structures and rituals across the design community and beyond. You will the Go-To person for the top design priorities, making them transparent to the full team
  • You will create playbooks and make sure the design community share a common identity and grows continually. You will coach local and distributed team members throughout the execution of design projects, while fostering their long-term development through mentoring and training opportunities, as well as knowledge sharing sessions
  • You will oversee, negotiate and maintain all legal contracts and budgets of the design teams and align the coordination with the IT and HR teams. You will partner with the design heads and leads to bundle and synergise their needs.

 

Your Profile

  • You have 10+ years experience as a Design or Design Ops Leader with experience building successful practices inside of companies and ideally with a global focus 
  • You have lead a team of at least 6 people
  • You have proven record of successful concurrent coordination of multiple projects of varying levels of complexity, moving at velocity across different product areas
  • You have deep knowledge of design processes on brand and product side and tools across devices and markets, as well as knowledge in UX research ways of working
  • You are a master in project and program management, both in agile and hybrid set-ups
  • You know how to set-up and maintain Atlassian Confluence and JIRA products
  • You have strong oral and written communication skills in both English and ideally one other language relevant to our global reach. Any other language is a bonus.
  • Your excellent presentation skills will help you collaborate with team members from a wide range of countries and cultures
  • You have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities/evolving stakeholder needs and can pivot design workflows
