DevOps Engineering Manager

As a DevOps Engineering Manager, you will be working with engineers, other teams and stakeholders spread across the organisation, to design tools that assist in the development of applications, but also allow development teams to deploy and run their applications in production. We strive for end-to-end ownership in our teams and you will be working alongside the engineering teams, enabling them to be successful and help our engineers to reach their full potential, reach mastery of their skills and develop new competencies to advance their growth.

What you’ll do 

• Serve as a focal point for the team of high performing DevOps engineers and provide technical guidance, leadership and mentorship;
• Roll up your sleeves and be involved in solving challenging technical problems;
• Support engineers in designing and planning feature implementations;
• Provide feedback to enable team autonomy and a scalable and maintainable code base;
• Use regular 1:1 to guide your team through their career development and best use of their personal and development skills;
• Set expectations with team members around their performance and behavior;
• Be committed to understand and improve our engineering culture by driving team strengthening activities and knowledge sharing sessions;
• Hire and onboarding engineers and peers;
• Guide the team to achieve outstanding performance, measured by business impact.

You’ll be great for this role 

• You are passionate about and have a deep understanding of DevOps, including existing and emerging DevOps trends and technologies and best practices;
• You have proven experience in managing and developing a high performing team;
• You have experience with enabling autonomous teams by shared processes and modular shared infrastructure as code;
• You have a strong understanding of distributed systems architecture, cloud engineering environments (AWS, GCP) and container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes);
• You are proficient in logging/monitoring/alerting approaches for highly available systems;
• You have experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, or similar);
• You have experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, ArgoCD, Github Actions;
• You have a good understanding of network and systems security;
• You are fluent in English and comfortable communicating with global teams.
