Engineering Manager - Merchant Success

As SumUp’s ecosystem continues to grow, so does the amount of knowledge that both new and existing merchants need to acquire in order to effectively use the various products on offer. Similarly, they are more likely to face a wider range of challenges that vary in complexity, the more features within the ecosystem they use. Therefore, our vision is to ensure that our merchants only ever contact customer support for truly complex cases that cannot be solved using technology alone. 

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead engineers in a cross functional team that focuses on building solutions that enable SumUp’s merchants to proactively resolve issues before they are noticed, provide them with the required information when they need it as well as creating effective and comprehensive self services. You’ll understand the needs of our merchants and collaborate with our Agile Coach, Product, Design, Salesforce and Data teams as the technical lead of the tribe in Latin America.You will be joining a truly customer centric and vibrant team based in both Berlin and São Paulo. What you’ll do

  • Support the team in learning and development by using career development tools, identifying learning needs, as well as mentoring and coaching. 
  • Hold your team members accountable and create a strong two-way feedback loop.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the technical challenges your team members face through pair programming and code reviews.
  • Engage and improve our engineering culture by driving team-strengthening activities, such as offsites, hackathons, cross-team projects and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding of engineers by taking care of headcount planning, defining needed skills, interviewing, preparing onboarding plan for new hires, follow-up on learning and integration within the team
