Disaster Recovery Engineer

Klarna is a company that is growing fast and building fast in the cloud. To support this growth we are building a governance system for the future, turning the old concepts of auditing and manual processes on their head. We are taking on the challenge of continuously measuring the disaster recovery readiness of Klarna systems. We consume data from multiple tools and data sources to develop metrics that give the business insight into compliance with its own standards as well as regulatory requirements.We are looking for a Disaster Recovery expert with hands on experience building resilient multi-region, multi-AZ services in AWS to develop reusable design patterns for Klarna teams to use and be part of the vision to create a continuously DR tested and measured operating environment.

What you will do

  • Work on how to automate measurement and testing of RPO and RTO objectives. 
  • Define standards of what AWS features and config is required to reach the required RPO and RTO.
  • Solve how data replication can be achieved for various use cases.
  • Own your services end to end. Decide how best to build, test, deploy and monitor.
  • Work with large scale, highly available and resilient modern financial systems.

Who you are

  • We are looking for engineers with Disaster Recovery experience interested in working in this problem space. Challenge the old dogmas of slow manual work with miles of documentation and do away with the tick-the-box philosophy of disaster recovery and governance.

You should have

  • A focus on automation and cloud-native thinking.
  • A very strong technical as well as analytical background.
  • A proven record of working within distributed infrastructures and experience in Cloud technology.
  • Hands on experience building resilient multi-region, multi-AZ services in AWS.
  • 3+ years working in with public cloud (ideally AWS), certification an advantage.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

  • Serverless, Microservice & Container based application experience..
  • Jira/Confluence/Insight experience an advantage.
