The Role

Personio Payroll is a revolutionary product, expanding our HR platform for small and medium-sized businesses. We are looking for a seasoned product leader to build out and scale our integrated payroll offering, navigate the complex domain of payroll, and deliver a simple payroll experience.

Director Product, Payroll is an experienced Product Management professional with exceptional leadership and organizational skills. You have spent 5-10 years turning complex business problems into successful products and building, managing, and retaining world-class product organizations. You achieve results through a deep understanding of the customer’s world, synthesized with business requirements, and the practicalities of product development. You have a demonstrated ability to balance priorities between long-term product strategy and short-term imperatives and you consistently communicate these with a varied landscape of stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the way for Personio Payroll by owning  the product vision for Personio Payroll and communicating a thoroughly researched and effective product strategy
  • Create, monitor, and refine meaningful product KPIs
  • Drive planning and road mapping including relevant legislative deadlines, enable Personio’s business and hiring planning through clearly communicated timelines
  • Create strategic alignment within and beyond Payroll teams and ensure cross-functional collaboration through effective product and program management processes
  • Foster deep understanding of the payroll domain and requirements across Payroll Analysts, PMs, Designers, and Engineers
  • Ensure a high-quality payroll experience for existing customers by complementing product capabilities with a team of payroll experts
  • Effectively manage stakeholders, including senior management
  • Build and retain a world-class payroll product organization, drive organizational design and hiring
  • Coaching, performance management, and development of product team members

What you need to succeed

  • 5-10 years of experience analyzing market opportunities and developing product strategies, ideally across a portfolio of B2B SaaS products
  • Managed and scaled a multi-team product function, experience in organizational design, and building highly productive agile teams. Experience working with distributed teams preferred. 
  • Set up effective collaboration structures to successfully execute on highly complex programs
  • Strong experience of product development in a compliance heavy domain
  • Product leadership skills based on a deep understanding of the product management craft
  • Customer-centric mindset and approach to building product
  • Analytical and data-driven orientation to influence decision making
  • Proven ability to work across different levels of management and ability to create confidence with key stakeholders, incl. our board
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluency in English and preferably Spanish and  German
