About the Role

The ZAGENO marketplace has over 8MM products and over 25MM SKUs -- for each of these products, we need to accurately describe 1) the key characteristics of the physical item relevant to our scientists 2) the key data related to fulfillment and shipping and 3) the most up-to-date price and cost information.  To do this, we leverage our suppliers and 3rd party sources as key inputs.  We are searching for a transformational leader who will define the agenda and lead the catalog data operations team in Berlin in its mission to scale the catalog while optimizing for timeliness, accuracy, completeness and cost.

In This Role You Will:
  • Drive KPIs for catalog completeness:
    • Speed at which products appear on site from when we learn of them
    • Quantification and reduction in gaps of catalog coverage
    • Quantification and reduction in gaps of product and fulfillment data
  • Drive KPIs for catalog data accuracy
    • Measurement and reduction of inaccuracies in the catalog, pricing, and fulfillment data
    • Processes for systematically preventing inaccuracies going forward
  • Drive KPIs for pricing data timeliness
    • How do we ensure supplier pricing data is up-to-date and accurate
    • How do we handle the massive influx of pricing updates when suppliers typically refresh their pricing in January
  • Drive KPIs for cost reduction in the department
    • Define our departmental costs per supplier and per product and per price
    • Drive an agenda of automation, supplier empowerment, and process improvement to lower catalog addition and maintenance costs over time
  • Identify and procure 3rd party tools to improve our internal and external processes
  • Manage a team of 5+ at our site in Berlin 
  • Reinforce a metric driven culture of continual improvement
  • Work cross functionally to drive a roadmap of software improvements with our tech team
  • Drive improvements in employee development, employee engagement, and departmental career pathing

About You

  • You have 5+ years of experience in leading and building data centric teams operational teams (e.g. master data management, ETL teams, order management)
  • You are sql savvy and comfortable working with engineers at the DB level
  • You have experience of working with fast growing environments and fast changing processes and holding your team up to date
  • You have a track record of leading teams across different sites or who are working remotely
  • You have fun getting things done and bringing operational processes into an excellent flow in order to provide a high-quality experience
  • You are a dedicated leader, both in person and virtually, and are passionate about people and talent development
  • You are interested and passionate about working in an international work environment and culture
