About the Role

This is an amazing opportunity to be leading a data engineering team in a high-growth, high-potential startup. In this role, you will be responsible for growing and scaling a team of talented software and data engineers across the US, Germany, and India. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally within all levels of the organization. The successful individual will have a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams of software and data engineers and can get in the trenches and code if needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the Data engineering teams across ZAGENO. 
  • Set the technical direction for the team, work closely with platform architects, domain experts, business stakeholders, and data scientists to drive the evolution of the data architecture, and make appropriate technology choices
  • Drive towards a self-self analytical data platform that can be consumed by customers, analysts, and other consumers within ZAGENO. 
  • Work with management and software architects to define Data Engineering roadmaps
  • Develop, build and test data engineering pipelines
  • Lead a global team of data engineers and data analysts to implement a modern data ecosystem to support various functions within ZAGENO
  • Recruit and build high performing team of data engineers to execute and operate at scale
  • Leverage ELT (Extract-Load-Transform) and distributed data mesh architecture to transform the way we manage data in the organization
  • Manage data-driven initiatives involving timelines, vendor relationships, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality and within specified timeframes.
  • Help develop baseline technology standards, tools platforms, and processes in support of the overall data strategy.
  • Work closely with business and technology colleagues to create platforms built using modern, consumer-focused technologies

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, MIS or other related fields.
  • 8-10 years of Data Engineering experience and at least 5 years of data-focused leadership position
  • 3+ years’ experience managing data professionals
  • Expertise in tools, vendors, and best practices surrounding data warehousing and data lakes
  • Track record of implementing and scaling data platforms.
  • Expertise in building and managing large-volume data processing (both streaming and batch) platforms
  • Expertise in at least a few programming languages - Python, Java, Scala
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to deliver products
  • Expertise in stream processing systems such as Kafka, Flink, Kinesis, Pulsar, or Similar is a plus
  • Experience in building microservices and managing containerized deployments, preferably using Kubernetes is a plus
  • Knowledge of technical excellence. You know continuous delivery, testing, security practices, performance, and observability.
  • Expert design and debugging skills in a distributed computing environment
  • Demonstrable ability to convey technical specifications to engineers and non-technical audiences
  • Deep background in data structures and algorithms
  • Excited about leading by example. player / coach mentality
