About the Role

This is an amazing opportunity to positively impact the production environment of a high-growth, high-potential B2B e-commerce startup focused on the life sciences market. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving ZAGENO’S database environment and taking it to the next level for risk reduction, scaling, efficiency, use of automation and quality.

The successful individual will have a proven ability to collaborate with engineering and development leaders in building and running sustainable databases and related systems, which can evolve and adapt to changes in a global business environment.  This person will inherit established processes, find opportunities for improvement and drive updates via process, tools and automation changes to remove toil across the organization and environment.

In this role you will:
  • Monitor all ZAGENO data update processes and outputs to ensure predictive quality, performance and availability.
  • Maintain existing environments to ensure they can handle the flow of traffic and the amount of data being stored in the ZAGENO database environments.
  • Continuously monitor databases and related systems to ensure high functionality.
  • Troubleshoot ZAGENO database operational activities, checking for potential problems that affect database functionality and related database programs
  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly database reports, including user reports and systems information, to spot problems and ensure that all data systems are working at peak levels.
  • Adhering to best practices in securely transport, storing, backing up, and archiving data.
  • Keeping abreast of developments and best practices in data operations engineering.

About You

  • A computer science degree or a similar discipline 
  • 6+ years experience in Linux/Unix scripting, Python, Postgres, SQL Queries and Database required
  • Knowledge of NoSQL Platforms, Object Stores, Containerization and container orchestration technologies
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
