Accounts Payable Accountant

As part of the Controlling team, you’ll play a key role in the financial reporting and accounting world of SumUp. Our team is based mainly in Sofia and consists of more than 30 people with a diverse and broad accounting and financial expertise. Together, we maintain the accounting records for all European companies of SumUp. If you’re excited about supporting a fast growing and diverse business, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant to help with day-to-day accounting activities.

What you’ll do?

  • Assemble, review and verify vendor invoices
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues as needed
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Enter and upload invoices into the accounting system
  • Set invoices up for payment and regular payment proposal preparation
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and processed accurately in a timely manner
  • Produce reports and prepare regular analysis of accounts payable (e.g. vendor and advanced aging reports)
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational information

You’ll be great for this role if:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • You have minimum 1-2 years accounts payable or general accounting experience, preferably in a multinational environment and proven knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounting principles.
  • You will have previous experience with SAP and strong knowledge in Excel will be considered an advantage.
  • You have excellent spoken and written English skills. A second language is a plus (French, Italian, Spanish, etc.)
  •  You have high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills.
  • You are a strong team player able to interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • You are target driven with the ability to remain focused on goals and maintain effective work despite challenges.
  • You are able to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a high-paced multinational organization.
