QA Engineer - Payments Processing

We are the leading mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) company in Europe. We are on the path of becoming the first ever global card acceptance brand. Today, millions of merchants accept card payments with SumUp in 34 countries including Germany, France, Italy, the UK and Brazil.

For our Acquiring Squad, we are looking for a QA Engineer to help  us  build up the core of SumUp’s product ecosystem - payments processing. The team’s mission is  to ensure that SumUp has the necessary tools and processes to enable our merchants to accept global and local card brands. 

As an experienced QA Engineer, you will be joining just in time to help us create a brand-new, highly available, scalable and fault-tolerant payments platform. You will participate in the development of our testing strategy and framework which will rely on both manual and automated approaches.

You will be a part of a colocated, autonomous, cross-functional team with end-to-end responsibility for a business critical, high-impact domain. Our platform processes millions of transactions each day. If you are excited by tackling challenging problems inherent in such a scale, we would like to meet you.

What you’ll do

• You will have an active role in laying the foundations of the test framework in the squad 
• You will take part in feature discussions and have the opportunity to improve our customers' experience
• You will participate in handling issues, including investigation, communication and delivery of fixes
• You will promote the quality guidelines set by the QA chapter within your squad and ensure these guidelines are adequate for your squad’s specific needs
• Work in an agile cross-functional squad

You’ll be great for this position if

• You have payments domain experience 
• You have fundamental understanding about web applications and REST/microservices
• You are eager to learn and develop new skills
• You are self-driven, focused and like to share knowledge
• You believe automation is an important ingredient of QA and are strongly motivated to gain it if lacking
• You are fluent in English - you'll be part of a truly global company

Any of the following would be considered a plus

• Good command of any high-level language such as Java/JS/PHP/Python/C#
• Experience in test automation 
• CI and/or DevOps skills will be considered a great advantage
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker
• Experience with Kafka or another message broker
• Experience in a similar business domain
